What is the Pay Commission? A Pay Commission is a panel set up by the Government of India to review and recommend changes in the salary structure, allowances, and benefits for government employees, including defense personnel and pensioners.
8th Pay Commission:

Approval: On January 16, 2025, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission to revise the salaries and pensions of central government employees and pensioners.
Implementation Date: The recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are expected to come into effect on January 1, 2026.
