• In 2025, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena opened the 90-hectare Amrut Biodiversity Park, situated on the Yamuna floodplains along NH-24.
  • This park, a project of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), aims to revitalize the floodplains and increase Delhi’s green areas while educating people about the environment.
  • The park was built on former farmland and residential areas.
  • To restore the ecosystem, six water bodies were created, holding a total of 225 million litres of water to manage rain runoff and reduce flooding.
  • The park utilizes natural materials like jute and river grasses to stabilize the land and improve groundwater levels.
  • To boost biodiversity, the park has planted a wide variety of flora.
  • Around 14,500 trees, including Neem, Peepal, and Mango, along with 18,000 shrubs and over 321,000 river grasses, were introduced. This diverse planting is intended to attract birds and create a flourishing natural habitat.
