1. Renewable Energy Potential: As of  March 2024, India’s renewable energy generation potential stands at 2,109,655 MW, with wind (55.17%) and solar (35.50%) being the major contributors.
  2. Electricity Generation Growth: Renewable electricity generation increased from 205,608 GWh in FY 2014-15 to 370,320 GWh in FY 2023-24, registering a 6.76% CAGR over the decade.
  3. Coal Imports Rising: India’s coal imports rose by 11.2% in FY 2023-24, totaling 262.99 million tonnes, indicating continued reliance on fossil fuels.
  4. Natural Gas Imports Surge: Natural gas imports increased by nearly 21%, reaching 31.8 billion cubic metres in FY 2023-24.
