1. The Long-snouted Vine Snake was recently rediscovered in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Uttar Pradesh  marking the first sighting in the state and only the second recorded instance in India.
  2. It has a unique elongated snout (rostral extension) that distinguishes it from other vine snakes.
  3. The species is arboreal (tree-dwelling) and has been previously found in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (Bihar) and parts of Odisha, with its natural range mainly in Southeast Asia.
  4. Its long, slender body is typically green or brown, allowing it to camouflage effectively in foliage.
  5. It is mildly venomous but not dangerous to humans and belongs to the Colubridae family of mostly non-venomous snakes.
