- The Long-snouted Vine Snake was recently rediscovered in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Uttar Pradesh marking the first sighting in the state and only the second recorded instance in India.
- It has a unique elongated snout (rostral extension) that distinguishes it from other vine snakes.
- The species is arboreal (tree-dwelling) and has been previously found in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (Bihar) and parts of Odisha, with its natural range mainly in Southeast Asia.
- Its long, slender body is typically green or brown, allowing it to camouflage effectively in foliage.
- It is mildly venomous but not dangerous to humans and belongs to the Colubridae family of mostly non-venomous snakes.
