Inauguration of India’s First Vertical Lift Sea Rail Bridge:

  1. Prime Minister inaugurated the new Pamban Sea Rail Bridge in Rameswaram, India’s first vertical lift bridge, connecting Rameswaram Island to the mainland for smoother rail movement.
  2. The new 2.07 km-long bridge replaces the century-old structure and is designed to improve access to the popular spiritual destination, benefiting both pilgrims and travelers.

Launch of New Rameswaram–Tambaram Train Service: Alongside the bridge inauguration, a new train service between Rameswaram and Tambaram (Chennai) was launched, improving rail connectivity in Tamil Nadu.
