A Planetary Parade occurs when several planets align in the same region of the sky, appearing in a line from Earth’s perspective.
Types of Planetary Parades:
- Mini Parade: When three planets align.
- Small Parade: Four planets align.
- Large Parade: Five or six planets align.
- Great Parade: All eight planets align (very rare).
In January 2025, a notable planetary alignment will occur, allowing six planets to be visible in the night sky simultaneously. This event, often referred to as a “planet parade,” will be most prominent between January 21 and February 21, with optimal viewing around January 29, during the new moon.
Visible Planets:
- Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn: These planets will be easily observable with the naked eye. Venus and Saturn will appear low in the western sky after sunset, while Mars and Jupiter will be positioned higher.
- Uranus and Neptune: These distant planets will require binoculars or a telescope to view.
