- Tribal Affairs Ministry clears speedier sanctioning of homes under PM-JANMAN package for vulnerable tribes.
- The PM-JANMAN package, launched in November 2023, intends to achieve 100% saturation of basic schemes like housing, piped water, roads, etc. across habitations of PVTG populations.
- Focus on PVTGs: PM-JANMAN targets Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), the most vulnerable among tribal populations, who face unique challenges like remote locations, pre-agricultural technology, declining populations, and low literacy.
- Comprehensive Development: The package provides basic amenities and services to PVTG communities, covering housing, clean water, education, healthcare, nutrition, livelihoods, and connectivity. It addresses eleven critical areas for development, ensuring a holistic approach.
- Multi-Ministry Collaboration: Nine ministries are involved, with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as the nodal ministry, ensuring coordinated development across sectors.
- Targeted Approach: PM-JANMAN focuses on 75 PVTG communities across 18 states and 1 Union Territory, ensuring support reaches the most vulnerable.
- Substantial Funding: The government has committed ₹24,104 crore for the scheme, demonstrating its commitment to PVTG development.
- Time-Bound Implementation: The scheme runs for three years, from 2023-24 to 2025-26, ensuring timely delivery of benefits.
