Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science is one of the optional subjects with two papers (Paper I and Paper II) in the UPSC Civil Services Mains Exam. The studies of animal physiology and preventing diseases fall within its scope. The UPSC main exam includes it as one of the optional papers. Only those with a degree in this discipline should opt for it because it is one of the most specialised subjects. It is difficult for applicants who have no prior understanding of this subject to pass the exam and perform well in the mains exam. Although it is not a very popular elective, it is the best choice for those with degrees in this discipline.
IAS candidates should be aware that although Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science for UPSC has the potential to be a highly scoring option, significant preparation is necessary to perform satisfactorily in this paper. To succeed in the UPSC Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science exam, aspirants could also complete more questions from previous UPSC question papers and practise mock exams.
